The first Moldovan wines with a protected geographical indication (Valul lui Traian area) emerged from the harvest year 2015. Chardonnay from Fautor – one of them, no doubt, deserves the attention of consumers.
The wine is produced in a limited edition 2550 bottles, what the manufacturer has informed at back label. This Chardonnay attracts with its design. According to financial director of the company Fautor (and co-owner of the family business) Tatiana Croitoru, the strategy and tactics of the company is that “in a bottle of wine is important not just its contents – a quality product, but also its appearance should create a good mood of the consumer”. So we decided to find an elegant bottle. She was brought from France. Because of the conical shape and the long neck “swan” was difficult to format. The label is amazing, it retain the look, because of the fish painted on it, which resembles with a barracuda. As planned, looking at the fish, do you think that I would like to prepare some tasty fish dish for fine wine. “So, we give ideas to the buyers with what food associate the wine” – confessed Tatiana Croitoru.
The wine leave a good impression. It is quite dense, structured because it high alcohol content – 13.6% and maturation in oak barrels. Important to note that, manufacturer was able to strike a balance between the tones of aging (six months in the barrels) and the organoleptic qualities of wine. In my opinion, it has turned out just fine. The aroma of Chardonnay , 2015 contains notes of citrus, banana, pineapple and vanilla. Taste – expressive, fruity with pleasant acidity. It is also important to note that the high level of alcohol does not feel as all major components of wine (alcohol, acidity and sugar), although it is a dry wine, are in balance. At the end you feel a sensation of pleasant aftertaste.
In supermarkets this wine costs about 180 lei per bottle. It makes sense to buy it and put in a home collection for a year or two. Then you will be pleasantly surprised by the rich bouquet that is formed during aging in bottle. Not all wines are suitable for collection, but this is – without doubt yes.
