According to the results for 2018, the Moldovan producers have established a personal record for the number of prizes won in international competitions – 673. And the leader remained unchanged – Fautor company.
673 medals – and this are just the calculated ones. The truth is that not all wineries offered the data to the National Office for Vine and Wine about the awards received last year. Although, theoretically, everyone should be happy to share information about his achievements.
On that list, offered to NOVW, there were mentioned 572 medals from the following international competitions: Pistonul de Aur România, Mundus Vini Spring Tasting (Germany), Berliner Wien Trophy (Germany), Concours International de Lyon (France), London wine competition (UK), Prodexpo International Wine Competition & Guide (Russia ), International Wine Challenge Tranche 1 (UK), Vinalies Internationales Competition (France), Challenge International du Vin (France), International Wine Challenge Tranche 2 (UK), Mondial du Rose (France), Concours Mondial des Féminalise (France), Vinorus (Russia ), Galicja Vitis (Poland), Concours mondial de Bruxelles (Belgium), International Wine and Spirit Competition (UK), Decanter (UK), Oenoforum (Czech Republic), Portugal Wine Trophy (Portugal), «Вина Чёрного моря» (Bulgaria), Mundus Vini Summer Tasting (Germany), Asia Wine Trophy (South Korea), Berliner Wien Trophy July (Germany), Decanter Asia Wine Awards (Hong Kong), Grand Prix Vinex (Czech Republic), AWC Vienna (Austria), Michelangelo International Wine and Spirits Awards (The South African Republic), SommelierS International (France), Inside Spirits Competition, Concours des vins Elle a Table (France), International Wine Contest Bucharest (Romania), Interwine Wine Competition, Effervescents du Monde (France) и IWC Tranche 1.
However, this list does not include the contest, which took place under the auspices of the International Vine & Wine Organization (OIV) in Chişinău – the Black Sea Region Wines & Spirits Contest, where the native producers won 100 awards. In other words, 572 + 100 = 672. In addition, another Grand Prix is lost, from the Georgia competition – a total of 673. And that’s at least. At the end of 2017, the bottom level was 362 medals (last year’s list of winning companies can be found here). The participation of the products in these competitions, including in Chisinau, was sponsored by NOVW and “Competitiveness Projects in Moldova” (funded by USAID and the Swedish Government).
Compared to 2017, in 2018, TOP 3 Moldovan medalists did not change and each of them multiplied its achievements.
